Colleen O’Cain holds a master’s degree in the Teaching and Learning of Spanish as a Foreign Language from the University of Alcalá de Henares in Alcalá de Henares, Spain and a Bachelor of Science degree in Spanish Education with a minor in ESL from Appalachian State University. Colleen has extensive experience teaching Spanish to students of all ages, pre-k through adults, in public school, private school, and business settings. She also taught English at Colegio Enriqueta Aymer in Madrid, Spain.

Colleen loves getting to know her students and personalizing her lessons for her audience. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, Irish dance, dabbling with other languages, and traveling whenever she can.
Victoria Tyler Gaviria has a master’s degree in teaching a second language from Bennington College and her undergraduate degree was a double major in Spanish and International Studies from Peace College. She currently teaches middle school Spanish at Cary Academy, and previously taught both middle school and high school in Wake and Johnston counties.
Tyler enjoys teaching because of the enthusiasm and energy that students bring to the classroom. She loves Latin dance, food and music, and she takes delight in incorporating them into her teaching. She is passionate about travel, and has lived in Spain, Portugal, Guatemala, Mexico and England. She loves to seek out new adventures whenever possible.
Andrea Navas España is originally from Pasto, a small city in the South of Colombia that is known for its Carnaval. She moved to the states in 2004 and attended Wake Technical Community College to learn English prior to attending UNCG, where she studied Hospitality and Tourism and Business Administration. She has always been passionate about learning about different cultures and embracing her Colombian background. While at UNCG, she studied abroad in Ecuador and Germany. While in Ecuador, she developed skills in translation and interpretation. She has ten years of experience translating and interpreting in a variety of contexts. She loves to cook, watch telenovelas (soap operas) on Netflix, dance, and she recently joined Batala Durham, a Brazilian percussion group. She joined Spanish Alive in November 2017 and offers advanced conversation classes, cooking classes, and translation services.
Anya Sippen has a Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism with a minor in Spanish from Hampton University. She taught Spanish for three years in the Mississippi Delta, spent a year traveling and working in South America, and returned home to Durham to teach at her alma mater, Hillside High School.
Anya's career has been devoted to a natural approach to teaching language and she prides herself on creating fun, engaging lessons, while boosting students' confidence. Her hobbies include cooking, traveling, Salsa dancing, and studying new languages.
Caroline Wehmann has been an foreign language educator since 2007. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Spanish Education with a minor in ESL from Appalachian State University. She also has her Master's in Spanish from NC State University. Caroline has lived and worked in Mexico, Peru, Guatemala and Argentina. In 2011, she completed her US Department of State Fulbright Grant in Uruguay. Caroline has taught in a variety of contexts, such as middle school, high school, community non-profits, Spanish immersion camps, and universities. Currently, Caroline teaches at Wake Tech Community College.
When Caroline isn't teaching (which is seldom), she loves to travel, be outside (preferably in the mountains), read, write, cook and eat. Exploring new cultures and connecting with people is why she loves teaching and language so much. Although her favorite place she's been is Patagonia in Argentina, she loves most spending time at home with her family.
